“Howard was my first choice, but I was almost unable to go because of financial restrictions. Then I got the Renaissance Scholarship which took a weight off. I decided on Howard an hour before the decision deadline, and I’m really happy I did!” -Kayla Cain, a Chicago Scholar and Renaissance Scholar
Kayla is just beginning her second semester at Howard. While classes have been virtual, Kayla has still been able to live in the dorms and connect with the community. “The students are what makes Howard. From floor events to pop-up concerts in front of the fine arts building, the student culture is the reason I’m so happy to be here.”
A film and television production major, Kayla is most excited about a paid summer internship opportunity called Howard Entertainment. The internship, created in partnership with Amazon Studios, was designed to diversify the talent pipeline in the entertainment industry by giving eligible students hands-on experience under entertainment executives in Hollywood.
