"Because of the Renaissance Scholarship, I get to focus on my studies and other school opportunities instead of having to worry about loans,” says Peter Podobinski, a Chicago Scholar and Renaissance Scholar at Northwestern University.

Since being awarded the Renaissance Scholarship, Peter has taken advantage of Northwestern's opportunities—from student government his freshmen year to working in a lab last summer researching bio electronics.
"Freshman year, I ran for senator in the associated student government because I saw that the Engineering School didn’t have much representation," Peter says. "Especially during the pandemic, it was important to speak with students and see what their concerns were. I was involved in student government in high school so it was amazing to get that opportunity right away in college.”
Next, Peter's planning to use this summer to complete another research opportunity within biomedical engineering to see which area interests him most for his future career.
