What did you think about college before you attended?

I always wanted to be a college graduate!

What advice would you give a high school student preparing for college?

Prepare to be confident and know that anything worth having takes hard work, dedication, commitment and focus!!

How do you think being a first generation student has affected your college experience?

MOTIVATION, more determined to succeed.

What do you love about your college?

Encouragement and dedication of professors and staff, Black Excellence.

What does it mean to you to have been chosen as a Renaissance Scholar?

Perseverance pays off and gets recognition. A honor of true recognition and dedication to people that beat the odds.

What has been the most impactful experience or class during your time in college?

Helping a young senior complete her senior project with encouragement and talking to her about her actions after leaving class. The next time I saw her she was on the phone, face-timing her mother. The young lady stopped walked over to me and told her mother on the phone that I was the reason she was gonna be a college graduate in 2022. That was one of my happiest moments on campus!

Any advice for students applying for the Renaissance Scholars program?

Be honest, confident, and true to your application process.
